Hey everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Since coming back from Christmas break we’ve
been really busy. We were back at the base for about five days getting ready
for the start of our Outreach phase. We
departed for Washington D.C. on January 7. It was awesome getting to spend time
with the staff of the Washington House of Prayer again after getting to know
them so well last year during the first part of our outreach.
In D.C. we did a few different things, but for the most part
we did what they call “LIFE sieging” and what that is, is when they go to the
foot of the supreme court with red duct tape with the word LIFE written on it,
on their mouth. There are a few reasons
why they “chose” the Supreme Court to do this.
One is that about 8 years ago now a guy had a vision of them all at the Supreme
Court doing these life sieges. The other reason being, that they are at the
foot of Supreme Court representing the higher courts of heaven praying for the
ending of abortion, and that Roe v. Wade would fall. They’re all believing, as am I, that it fall
this year, the 40th year anniversary. Aside from that, we also did a
lot of neighborhood evangelism. There was
one week where we woke up at 5 in the morning to go and talk to the people on
the streets cause that’s when the streets were the busiest. During that week, we would worship in the
prayer room with the door open to the streets so the music and prayers could
flow out into the streets. While we
worshiped, we would have whoever felt led to go out and talk to people, go out
and talk to people. One thing that
happened to me, during one of these times is, I was standing out in front of
the building just praying and pacing with one of the other girls on staff. And a lady stopped and started talking to
us. She originally asked if we were
married, which we both laughed and explained that we were just friends. I really felt to ask if we could pray for
her, so I asked if we could and she went on to tell us that she had had the HIV
virus for the last 30 years, and she recently at the doctor for a checkup, and
now they can’t find a trace of it anywhere!! So I had the opportunity to pray a
prayer of thanksgiving for her, and over her.
That’s just one of many stories that people have from our time in D.C. We then participated in the annual March For
Life on Friday, the 25th. After the march, we left to come home for
a few day turn around before the students and five staff left for China.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I hope you’ve
all been well!!
With the wind,
Mark
