Last few weeks in review

Hey everyone!

It’s that time again.  Another update! Unfortunately it’s been a slow couple of weeks here at the base. But with the slowness of the last couple of weeks, it means that we have time to get stuff done that need to get done around the base.  It has given us ample time to finally get started on clean up from the snow storm at the beginning of the year. There was a lot of broken sprinkler heads that got ripped up from the snow blower, as well just branches and such lying around the base that needed to get picked up, as a lot of small jobs around the base.

A few years back, YWAM Metro New York was given a piece of property roughly 35 acres in size out east in Riverhead.  A bunch of us had never seen this property in the time that we’ve been here on staff. So yesterday we, as a staff, made a trip out to Riverhead to see what we’ve been praying for the last 2+ years. It looked nothing like I thought it would…but then again…I didn’t really know what to expect in the first place.

The next couple of weeks are going to be just as slow. Some of the staff will be leaving to go to Ohio the end of May for a week to help with something called Project C.O.O.L, which stands for Community Outreach Of Love. And what it is basically is Extreme Makeover Home Edition on steroids. Instead of one house for a week, they take an entire neighborhood and transform it in a single day. It was started by someone that used to be on staff here, but has since moved on. But we still send help every year. After we get back from that, we basically have teams back to back from the beginning June, all the way to through the beginning of August.

Alright, that’s it for now. I’ll send out another update in a couple of weeks! Hope you’ve all been well!!

With the wind,
Mark
